Security breach is Breaking-In inside an organization and gain any unauthorized access to data, device, network, or programs. Data Breach follows after a security breach when an intruder steals those valuable data.
Security and data breach can affect an organization in a very bad manner, it can also affect you as an individual if your data is swept away in that breach.
Hackers keep on looking for vulnerabilities that they can use to exploit and gain unauthorized access resulting in serious damage to organization’s reputation and finance.
Types of Security Breaches
Attackers keep on trying numerous ways to exploit a Vulnerability.
Security breach can range from password Cracking to Software exploits, Phishing ,Pharming as well as Social Engineering. They can be successful in infecting a system inside an organization with payloads containing malicious objects such as Viruses, Worms, Spyware.
Another famous technique is DDoS attacks, Distributed Denial of Service is a type of security breach where an attacker is able to stop an organization’s capability to do business by flooding their website/App with huge amount of traffic.
There are many other types of security breaches as well where they find a software bug in an application, exploit it to get some ransom in return which is popularly known as Ransomware Attacks.

CircleCI: In 2023,CircleCI which offers a platform for continuous integration and continuous delivery of software development projects suffered a data breach
Facebook: Hackers were able to carry out a Zero Day Attack in 2021 which costed Facebook a data leak of over half a billion Facebook users — including phone numbers, dates of birth, location info, email addresses, and more .
Equifax: In 2017, the US credit bureau Equifax suffered a security breach via a third-party software vulnerability. Attackers gained access to the personal data of over 160 million people
Security Breaches and Data Leaks not only damages an organization’s reputation, but it also attracts heavy penalty/Fine from the regulating body/Government.
